Hiking: Corviglia and Muottas Muragl
Discover the spectacular nature and the high alpine scenery.
The Senda d’Inspiraziun is the perfect walk for lovers of culture. The hike to Lej Muragl is particularly well suited for lovers of fauna and flora: with a bit of luck they might spot a few marmots along this high-alpine route and, at Lej Muragl, a few fish perhaps; the cows along the return path are more or less guaranteed. The panoramic trail laid out as if by magic is perfect for hikers keen to enjoy their surroundings: it leads around the Schafberg and through pine forests and across the gnarled roots of Swiss pine, up to Alp Languard. Once at the destination it’s time to treat the palate to a slice of freshly baked cake and to feast the eyes on the wonderful views.
There are countless routes to take you up to the heady heights of Piz Nair at 3057 metres, to the natural reservoir at Lej Alv newly created in 2015 or, for alpine hikers with the right equipment, almost vertically up to Piz Ot. By contrast the Schellen Ursli Path is ideal for kids: from its starting point at Chantarella it tells the story of Ursli, who was absolutely determined to carry the largest bell at the traditional Chalandamarz event and pulls every trick in the book to achieve just that. Heidi’s Flower Trail is just as exciting and instructive, and like many other paths and trails it is accessible to strollers and buggies. And if you’re lucky, you’ll even spot the odd marmot or two during your hike – or Munggä as they’re lovingly called here. All this nature’s so exciting, no matter what age you are!
