The Swiss Orienteering Week organised in July 2016 was a huge success from both a sporting and a tourism point of view. Around 3,000 runners spent a wonderful week in the Engadine. Various training areas were available before and after the Swiss Orienteering Week, and new orienteering maps for Corviglia and Muottas Muragl featuring a fixed network of control points were also used. This offer proved very popular, thanks also to the good level of accessibility with mountain railways & cableways.
From 1 July to 31 August 2018 around 15 orienteering checkpoints are going to be set up in these running areas! These checkpoints are standard orienteering checkpoints without a fixed installation or time check. The training areas are all situated at more than 2,000 m above sea level, which means they are also ideally suited for altitude training, with each run starting right next to the mountain station.
Each orienteering map for these four routes costs CHF 5.- and can be purchased at the valley stations of the mountain railways & cableways. Runners with a valid mountain railways & cableways ticket receive the map for CHF 3.-.
Group registrations should be notified well in advance at firstname.lastname@example.org to ensure there are enough orienteering maps available.
