Winter hiking

A winter hike as an ideal way to experience the peaceful winter in the Engadin

The Philosophers’ Trails

Enjoy the spectacular panorama of the Upper Engadin lake plateau and – like many philosophers of yesteryear – allow yourself to be inspired by the magnificent natural landscape and the fascinating interplay of colours. The winter hiking path, which is maintained on a daily basis, leads across the high-lying plain via three routes of different lengths. The entire circuit takes 2‒3 hours to cover, but you can also opt for a shorter stretch. The various routes are clearly signposted in different colours. Stop and linger on one of the wooden benches, equipped with woollen blankets, and let your thoughts wander. Delight in the beautiful scenery and the tranquillity of the Alpine world! Afterwards you can enjoy a delicious meal or a hot drink in the Romantik Hotel Muottas Muragl.

The Philosophers’ Trails are freshly prepared every day, and if you do need a break, there’s no better place to rest up than on one of the wooden benches under a warm woollen blanket.
