Mounty's Adventure TrailLearn more about the animals of the Alps

On the Mountys Adventure Slope, skiers of all ages get to know the animals of the Engadin mountains from their athletic side. Ibex, chamois, deer, marmots, capercaillies, roe deer, foxes, and snow hares show what really counts when skiing: endurance, agility, balance, focus, and courage. Fascinating facts, funny traits, and animal-inspired tips make the run a fun-filled experience for the whole family.

Capricorn
Do it like the King of the Alps. Here’s what skiers of all ages can learn from the ibex: An ibex never gives up, even when the path gets steep and difficult. It carefully plans its next moves before scaling the next rock. Whether climbing up or down, it always remains calm and focused. And most importantly: ibexes never let themselves get discouraged!
Chamois
Chamois: Follow the Example of the Mountain Acrobat. Here’s what skiers of all ages can learn from the chamois: Whether the slope is steep or flat, the chamois adapts to the terrain with ease. It stays alert and looks ahead to spot obstacles and potential dangers. It also uses its strength only when necessary. And most importantly: Chamois still have fun even when things get tough.
Deer
Do it like the ruler of the forest. Here’s what skiers of all ages can learn from deer: Deer are excellent at maintaining their balance on both uneven and slippery terrain. They have strong muscles, quick reflexes, and are very agile. It can jump up to 2.5 meters high and 9 meters far. And very importantly: With their magnificent antlers, deer are practically always wearing a helmet!
Marmot
Do it like the Alpine sleepyhead. Here’s what skiers of all ages can learn from the marmot: The marmot starts preparing perfectly for winter as early as summer. It knows how to stay warm even in very cold temperatures, is extremely alert, and warns its friends of danger. And most importantly: marmots love to take it really easy every now and then.
Capercaillie
Do it like the forest’s charmer. Here’s what skiers of all ages can learn from the capercaillie: The capercaillie has powerful legs and therefore great stamina. With its keen eyesight, it spots even the tiniest obstacles and can dodge them in a flash with its nimble legs. It’s a natural “showman” and, like all capercaillies, is out on the slopes as early as the crack of dawn—a true “snow cock,” so to speak.
Roe deer
Do it like the “curve wonder.” Here’s what skiers of all ages can learn from the deer: The deer is fast, agile, can jump up to 2 meters high or 9 meters far, and often covers long distances. It rests by simply kneeling down and assuming a relaxed posture. And yes, a deer can actually “bark.” But thanks to their large eyes, deer can see even better.
Fox
Do it like the forest’s sly fox. Here’s what skiers of all ages can learn from the fox: The fox can move silently through nature. As a nimble hunter, it often reaches high speeds without losing control. Its cry sounds more like a creepy shriek than a bark, even though it’s related to the dog. And most importantly: Foxes are very cunning and crafty
Snow Hare
Do it like the Alpine speedster. Here’s what skiers of all ages can learn from the snow hare: The snow hare is an expert at zipping across the snow without sinking in too deep. Its fur is snow-white to make it as invisible as possible. And it handles the cold without batting an ear. Plus, snow hares can pull off wild turns and jumps that make your head spin just watching them.
