An intact nature and landscape are the foundation of our daily work as a provider of snow sports and mountain experiences. Sustainability and ecology are therefore not just vogue terms for Engadin St. Moritz Mountains, but have long been of particular importance both in the company's snow sports and mountain experience division and in the hotel and catering business. We always strive to become even better in the areas of sustainability. This improvement is an ongoing process that began back in 1981 with the commissioning of the solar thermal plant on Marguns. Since then, Engadin St. Moritz Mountains has implemented various measures. The biggest milestones in the area of snow sports and mountain experience include, the implementation of Switzerland's first natural reservoir in 2015. Another important milestone is already in the pipeline for 2025, when the next natural reservoir, Lej Nair Pitschen, will be built.
The second Nair Pitschen natural reservoir will be built on Corviglia by the end of 2025. In order to be able to follow the implementation of Engadin St. Moritz Mountains' largest current project away from the construction site, this website was launched at the same time as the ground-breaking ceremony. In 2010, we opened the first plus-energy hotel in the Alps on Muottas Muragl. The Romantik Hotel is powered by 100 percent renewable energy. Thanks to the optimal slope orientation with plenty of hours of sunshine, the PlusEnergy Hotel's solar system is also the second most efficient in Switzerland: it produces all the electricity for the hotel and restaurant. Sustainability plays an important role in the daily work of both the hotel and restaurant industries.
